Laminate Flooring
Laminate flooring is a multi layered flooring that is designed to resemble real wood flooring. The core layer of the laminate flooring is manufactured primarily from fibreboard material and melamine resin. The top most layers are textured to make it look like real wood, slate or even stone.
Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood flooring is the original version of laminate. This kind of flooring is designed from, as the name would suggest, hardwood and can be purchased as finished or unfinished. Nowadays, you can find engineered wood flooring like the woodpecker flooring. This kind of flooring comes with multiple layers.
Difference between the two:
Although, the major difference between the two flooring can’t be judged, there are a few other factors that can be compared before you make your decision:
- Price is an important factor when choosing your flooring. Laminate flooring is much cheaper than the hardwood flooring.
- Laminate flooring has a durability up to 10 years when you have a huge traffic walking over it every day. If the laminate used is of top-notch quality, it could last up to 25 years. On the other hand, hardwood flooring will last for a lifetime and even more. The durability will depend on the manufacturing and finish, but it is at least much more durable than laminate flooring.
- Repairing laminate flooring is next to impossible. The best you can do is to change the damaged tiles. On the other side, hardwood flooring is very easy to repair.
