Installing your quickstep laminate flooring is not a DIY task and hiring a flooring installer is a must. However, as home owners, you should be very careful when hiring someone to install your flooring. Flooring can expensive and when you have it installed, you expect it to last for at least 15-20 years. We don’t change our flooring every year so, if you don’t get the help from a professional to install your flooring it could end up costing you in the future.
So, when you start looking for a professional to install your flooring, ask them the following questions:
- Are you insured and licensed to conduct the flooring installation?
A flooring installer should be certified and licensed to conduct the installation. This is the first thing you need to clear with the flooring installer. If their work is not licensed, there is no guarantee of their work and you might not get the quality you are looking for. Moreover, if your installer is not insured, in case of any mishaps, you’ll be the one who has to fork out.
- Can you measure and record the moisture content of the materials used?
The installer must know how to measure and record the moisture content of the hardwood flooring and the humidity of the surroundings. The humidity in the atmosphere poses a great effect on the quality of the wood. The installer must be able to judge it and convey the same to the house owner.
- What is the warranty of your work?
You should ask if the installer has a warranty on their work. Of course, there is no guarantee of their mechanical skills but there can be a warranty of the things they are using during the installation. For example, the glue they use to stick the floor should be of good quality etc.
- Do you have any positive reviews for your work?
Ask the installer if they have been referred by someone in the market or they have secured some good reviews in the market. It is necessary to have good popularity for the installer.
- How long will the work take?
It’s always good to ask how long any job is going to take, time is precious and something like installing flooring can put an entire room out of business until it’s complete.
