Do

Follow the installation instructions carefully to ensure your Tuscan flooring is fitted correctly and then get into a good maintenance routine. Sweep or vacuum your Tuscan flooring at least once a week or more often if it is required. Use a soft felt or brush vacuum head to prevent scratching. Use a flat mop with a washable cover to get rid of small particles, and clean with a specialised floor cleaner periodically.

Make sure that all spillages or obvious pieces of dirt are cleaned up straight away. It is especially important that fluids are mopped (Dry Mop) up to prevent damage to your flooring. Make use of doormats to prevent excess dirt being walked in.

Ensure that your floor is not subject to direct sunlight for long periods, as this can cause discolouration and ageing. Blinds or other window coverings can be useful to minimise the amount of sunlight flooding into a room. Also move any rugs around to prevent different shades from forming. As a natural product, the flooring will inevitably have different shades and tones, but these should blend naturally with each other rather than patches being created in the shape of a square or rectangular rug.

Don’t

Do not compromise on the installation of your flooring. Fitting is extremely easy but if you are not confident in your own abilities, seek professional help.

Avoid using a wet mop on this type of flooring, as too much moisture can cause it to expand too much and the surface finish may be damaged. Also avoid harsh cleaning products containing ingredients such as ammonia, bleach, acids and abrasive materials, as these can harm the surface.

Do not let your pets’ nails get too long as they could scratch your flooring, and try not to let them run around too much. Further prevent scratching by taking off heeled shoes before walking on the floor, and never slide heavy objects or furniture around.

This list is reasonably short as Tuscan flooring is very simple to maintain. If you think it might be a better alternative in your home than your current flooring choice, browse the Flooring Village online collection today.
