Tuscan Elite is Suitable for Underfloor Heating
Until recently there has not been a recognised facility available to specifically test wooden floorcoverings over a water-fed UFH system in the UK. Following the opening of Exova BM TRADA`s new facility, we felt it was a great opportunity for Tuscan to be the first user in relation to thoroughly testing a multiply engineered flooring so we tested our Tuscan Elite collection to asses its performance & suitability for use over an UFH system.
Why did we do the testing? In conducting the testing in a very controlled manner, in association with Exova BM TRADA we are showing our desire to prove that Tuscan Elite flooring is a product that consumers can be confident in. A product that can perform as expected if laid over a water piped UFH system. Relevant flooring & UFH use guidelines contained within BS 8201:2011 were referenced and adhered to along with the CFA (Contract flooring Association) published guidelines for use of floorcoverings over UFH systems. What type of UFH was Elite tested over and why? A water piped system set in a concrete screed. TRADA`s Industry sources of info and stats showed that this type of system is the most common type now installed, and in use, in domestic properties in the UK.
Importantly for use with a wooden floor it is also highly controllable (with temperature change increases taking effect more slowly) which helps avoid ‘heat shock’ situations occurring to the flooring. Both floating floor (over underlay) and full bond stick down (using Sika 54 wood floor adhesive) installations were tested over a six month period to ensure appropriate exposure of the products to the various test elements – including heating the flooring at the industry recommended maximum floor surface temperature of 27 degrees Celcius.

Tuscan Elite multiply flooring is proven to be suitable for use over a water piped, in screed underfloor heating system where the product instructions for installation, commissioning & use are adhered to. It remains suitably stable and retains all its natural character of a beautiful engineered oak wood flooring and is a product of exceptional quality.
