Caring for your solid wood Tuscan flooring

How to care for your solid wood Tuscan flooring

The Tuscan flooring brand is renowned for its high quality and longevity (as supported by their standard 10 year structural domestic warranty), but also for its fantastic range of colours and textures.

So when you have made the choice to install solid wood Tuscan flooring in your home, you will no doubt want to take the best possible care of it in order to keep it looking its best. Ensuring that you commit to a good cleaning and care regime will help ensure the long term performance of your floor. When you first have your flooring installed you will be given specific care instructions for while the floor is newly installed. For proper ongoing care of your Tuscan flooring you should aim to sweep weekly as a minimum, but more if required. You can use a hoover, but take care to use a brush or other soft attachment as hard vacuum heads can cause scratching on your floors. Further to sweeping/vacuuming, it is recommended to then lightly wipe the floor with a flat headed mop in order to remove any finer particles of dirt and grit left behind. However, at no point wet mop or steam mop your solid wood Tuscan flooring as it can cause the boards to swell and thus potentially damage the lacquered /oiled surface.

Additional lacquer and oil refreshers are available from the manufacturer if you find that you need to periodically add an extra level of cleaning.
Other precautions that you can take to ensure the longevity of your solid wood flooring are to introduce mats by external doors to trap dirt before it enters the home and request that visitors leave their shoes by the door. If you don’t want to take the step and ban all outdoor footwear, be cautious with stilettos and other footwear with narrow heals, that may damage the surface of the floor.  If possible use furniture pads under furniture castors and feet, again to minimize damage to the surface of your flooring.
